Looks like I’m living with no anti-lock brakes and the light on.

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

I bought the truck with 168,000 miles and now it has 171,500. I went pretty far without a warning light being stuck on.

I had issues in my truck with the ABS. It was fine until my wife borrowed it. Someone cut her off and she slammed on the brakes. With no ABS and wet roads, the truck spun and she ended up on the shoulder, pointed the wrong direction. Fortunately, nothing was damaged. It just scared the bejeesus out of her and the kids.

The upside? As soon as she got home, she told me to start shopping for something new. That’s how I got my WRX!

it used to be worse. Thank Delco Moraine (GM) for inventing the low-cost passive ABS control module in the early ‘90s. before that, if you could get ABS on a car it was likely the high-pressure, active Bendix 10 system. the integrated master cylinder/hydraulic control unit was a couple thousand bucks back then, and I’m not sure you can even easily find replacements now.

Bendix 9 and 10 were the infamous systems where you were repeatedly warned to pump the brake pedal at least 20 times before doing any service on the brake system whatsoever. had to bleed off the pressure stored in the accumulator.

Try pulling the fuse. It may kill the entire ABS system including the light.

Have you tried a junkyard yet?

I think that’s what did my first car in, an ‘89 Olds Toronado Troffeo. Nobody could fix the effin thing, and when it failed you couldn’t stop for shit.

Put a little piece of electrical tape over the light. That was the first “mod” I did to my Roadmaster.

Cut the sensor wires, remove the bulb.

I was wondering if maybe the fuse needed to be replaced anyway?

Not yet. That $179.99 is a junkyard part online, though.

Aw, poop. So the module itself is at fault, huh? Bummer.

Pull the bulb for the ABS light...it’s fixed! (But don’t forget to reinstall before selling or make sure the buyer understands.)

More than likely. It threw three codes: C1246, C1265, and C1268.

C1246 ABS Outlet Valve Coil RR Circuit Failure

C1265 Lamp Warning Relay Circuit Short To Ground

C1268 Motor Relay # 1 Circuit Failure

of all the modern tech, ABS is the one thing i approve of.

as for elec windows, ESC, TC, radars/lidar , EPS all a big fat no in my book.
